GRASSROOTS NOT GREENBACKS
A CAMPAIGN GREEN ECONOMY FUELED BY
GRASSROOTS NOT GREENBACKS
“We are very proud of the people of the 3rd Congressional District for making their candidate choice based on experience and policy – not party – while standing up to big money politics,” said Carol Miller, as the Friends of Carol Miller files the quarterly report to the Federal Elections Commission today. “We will prove that money can’t elect our representative, that the people still hold the power.”
“Voters in the district tell me every day that they are craving change. They are showing this by choosing an Independent who will work with everyone, irregardless of party, for the good of the district,” said Miller. “Electing an Independent with a small budget grassroots campaign will propel our district into the national spotlight transforming us into the most noticed and important district in the country. People in New Mexico and across the country will regain hope that ‘we the people’ are taking back responsibility for our democracy.”
Voters in very high numbers, according to the polls, are supporting Carol Miller as their choice and the debates this week are expected to increase these numbers tremendously. Victory is in sight.
There are models of victorious Independent campaigns; in Congress Independent Senator from Vermont Bernie Sanders, had a successful career in the U.S. House of Representatives before his election to the Senate. The Carol Miller Independent for Congress campaign is also studying the 1998 campaign of Jesse Ventura, who was elected Independent Governor of Minnesota. Ventura was polling at only 10% at this point of his campaign (much less than Miller) and went on to win because of the message he communicated to voters in the debates.
As voters turn their attention to the NM 3rd Congressional District race, they will see that only one candidate has the experience, education and wisdom to help the district and the country through these hard times.
The Miller campaign made a decision from the beginning not to focus on fundraising and to work very hard on grassroots outreach.
“I work in community every day raising money for important programs to help people right now so I see the financial hardships facing people, organizations and communities first hand. There are too many needs to be met right now for me to have spent time asking people for money for a political campaign. The day after the election, all there is to show for the money spent is a lot of signs heading to the landfill.”
